Two pieces of glass are fused together, preserving a channel to hold lamp oil. This piece is a delicate sapphire blue fused to clear glass. Separately, I create the individual snowflakes out of powdered glass.
Once the pocket has been created, the snowflakes are attached to the lamp in an additional trip to the kiln.
The lamp comes with a metal stand and a fiberglass wick threaded through a glass tube, which holds the wick in place.
Add lamp oil and light!
